Founded in 1957 as the American Production and Inventory Control Society Inc. (APICS), in the early 1990's it adopted the more recently known moniker APICS - The Educational Society for Resource Management to acknowledge its growing international presence and expanded scope.

Now know as APICS The Association for Operations Management it is the global leader and premier source of the body of knowledge in operations management, including production, inventory, supply chain, materials management, purchasing, and logistics.  Since it's inception, individuals and companies alike have relied on APICS for its superior training, internationally recognized certifications, comprehensive resources, and worldwide network of accomplished industry professionals.

APICS represents a diverse community of professionals from virtually every manufacturing and service industry and is the resource that individuals and companies rely on for operations management education through obtaining the APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and the recently introduced APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) designations.
